Srinagar, May 1 (GNS): A search operation was launched by army and police in forests of Rajwar in Handwara area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Friday.
Reports reaching GNS said that army’s 21 RR and SOG launched a search operation at Nagni forests of Waderballa in Rajwar today around 2:30 pm.
A police officer said that the operation was launched following suspicious movement of about 4 to 5 militants in the forest area.
He said that no contact was established with the hiding militants even after forces fired several warning shots while intensifying the searches in the woods.
Additional reinforcement of 9 PARA and police has also joined the operation and have cordoned off the entire area to prevent the militants from escape.
Meanwhile, the army has simultaneously started search operation in Mawar forest area suspecting the militants might flee from Rajwar forest to reach Baramulla side. (GNS)
