Loran Teenage Girl Loses Life After Falling Off Cliff

Rajouri/Poonch, Jun 18: (GNS) Two persons were killed while four others received injuries in two separate road mishaps at Manjakote of frontier district in Rajouri of Jammu division on Thursday.

Reports reaching GNS said that a car bearing registration number JK-11B 0271 on way from Rajouri to Dehri-Ralyote, skidded-off the road and rolled down into a gorge near Nyali area of Tehsil Manjakote.

In the incident, a girl identified as Aneesa Qayoom daughter of Mohammad Qayoom died on the spot while three other passengers on board also received injuries, reports said.

The injured were evacuated to Government Medical College and associated hospital Rajouri for treatment, however one of three identified as Maymoona Akhter daughter of Mohammad Zakir died on way to the hospital, taking the death toll to two, reports said.

SDPO Manjakote, Nisar Ahmad Khoja told GNS that a team under his supervision visited the spot and have registered a case for further investigations leading into the mishap.

In an another incident, a Wagon R bearing registration number JK-11B 8440 met with an accident at Kalali area of Manjakote resulting in injuries to two siblings identified as Mohammad Shabir and Mohammad Qayoom sons of Mohammad Yousaf.

The injured duo was shifted to GMC Rajouri and PHC Manjakote for treatment where from one of the two with minor injuries has been discharged after receiving initial treatment, reports said.

Meanwhile in a tragic incident, a teenage girl identified as Zaitoon Akhter (13) daughter of Ghulam Rasool resident of sub-sector Loran fell from a steep cliff while grazing her cattle in Dhoke Trikana in Poonch.

Confirming the death of the teenage girl, Senior Superintendent Police Poonch Ramesh Angral told GNS that the girl is presumably said to have fallen from a height of about hundred metres into a nallah which resulted in her instant death. “A police party was deputed to the spot to gather initial information”, he said adding “Investigations in this regard have been taken up under relevant sections to ascertain the exact cause of death.” (GNS)
