SIU Presents Chargesheet Against 5 LeT Militant Associates In NIA Court

Srinagar, May 11(GNS): Special Investigation Unit of J&K Police presented chargesheet before the Special designated NIA Court Srinagar against five militant associates.

In a handout to GNS, police said that SIU Srinagar unit produced chargesheet of case (FIR number 41/2022) under section 7/25 A.Act, 13, 18, 23, 39, UA(P) Act of Police Station Shalteng. The case pertains to the recovery of huge cache of arms and ammunition by Police, 2RR and 44bn CRPF at a checkpoint established at Tri-junction Narbal highway on 20 November last year from the possession of three militant associates. They were identified as Rouf Safeer Dar son of Abdul Rashid Dar, Javiad Ahmed Khanday son of Ghulam Hassan Khanday, both residents of Khanday Mohallah Pattan and Mohammad Iqbal Dhobee son of Manzoor Ahmed Dhobee of Aram Mohallah Pattan. They were transporting the arms and ammunition in a TATA (JK15-2207) from Srinagar to Pattan on the instance of one militant alias Hamza of LeT. “The vehicle as proceeds of militancy and on prior approval was attached for further proceedings.

According to spokesman, the case was further investigated which resulted to nomination of other two militant associates namely Shakir Ahmed Zargar son of Nisar Ahmed Zargar of Khanday Mohallah Pattan, Waris Ramzan Gojre son of Mohd Ramzan Gojre resident of Malpora Pattan and Hamza.

“The investigation of the case has been closed against said five militant associates under section 173 CrPC and chargesheet was produced before NIA Court Srinagar today.” The investigation of the case will remain continue under section 173(8) CrPC in order to effect the arrest of other involved persons and determination of details after obtaining expert opinions, police added.(GNS)
