Srinagar, August 1 (GNS): Security has been ramped up across Srinagar city and parts of South Kashmir in the wake of a terror attack in Kulgam district that claimed the life of a non-local labourer and left another injured.
A top Official told GNS that enhanced checking and frisking operations are underway at multiple points in Srinagar, with focus on entry and exit routes and the city’s outskirts. Additional checkpoints have been set up and security personnel are conducting detailed inspections of vehicles and commuters.
Surveillance has also been intensified around vital installations, key intersections, and major road corridors. Random vehicle checks and identity verification drives are being carried out at several locations as a precautionary measure.
In South Kashmir, security forces have increased deployment and strengthened area domination, particularly in and around Kulgam where a cordon and search operation is ongoing to track down the attackers involved in the incident.
Authorities said the measures have been put in place to ensure public safety and maintain peace and order across the Valley following the attack.
“All necessary steps are being taken to prevent any untoward incident and to bring the perpetrators to justice,” an official said.(GNS)
