Bandipora, Jun 10: (GNS) In a rare feat of its kind in the far flung area of Gurez, doctors here in north Kashmir’s frontier Bandipora district successfully conducted delivery of a COVID19 patient, officials said.
While divulging the details, Doctor Hilal Ahmad privy to the development told GNS that the sub-district hospital at Dawar Gurez received a patient (name withheld) arriving from Tulail on Saturday last (June 6).
“The patient received was in last leg of her delivery date”, he said adding “With the available medical records at the hospital she had tested positive for COVID19 on June 5.”
“With limited means at our disposal we had to take a very careful approach and after an assessment, the patient was admitted to the newly designated Level 2 COVID hospital”, he said.
“Whole of the hospital staff had to be taken into confidence to deal with the intricacies that may have resulted dealing with the patient”, he said adding “However under the abled guidance of BMO concerned Dr. Tahira the delivery was conducted successfully on June 7.”
The other team members involved in the operation included Doctor Manzoor Ahmad, Doctor Hilal Ahmad and Pharmacists Mohammad Hayat, Mushtaq Ahmad alongside nursing staff Sakina and Khurshida and nursing orderly Bilal Ahmad.
All of the staffers have been sampled and rendered to home quarantine and their tests are awaited.
Expressing his satisfaction over the successful conduction of the delivery, Hilal Ahmad said that “this will go a long way in boosting the morale of other fellow members of the fraternity.”
Urging the people to contain their movement amid the onslaught of COVID19, Hilal said that “We sincerely wish to help our people whenever or wherever the need arises given they help us to help them in these testing time. We urge people to restrain themselves from venturing out, as much as they can.” (GNS)
