Pulwama, Nov 13 (GNS): Inhabitants in several villages in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district are caught in awe over alarmed growth of canine population.
A delegation to GNS from Panzgam, Gulzarpora, Reshipora, Khandaypora – Awantipora – said that the alarming growth of canines have made the life of the public difficult as the animals can be seen roaming in every nook and cranny. “We can’t move out freely as packs of dogs can be seen frequently roaming in and around the localities”, they said adding this movement however catches height during morning and evening hours.
“With the passage of each day, the population is growing exponentially and unfortunately no one is coming forward to do something about the menace”, they said.
Urging the authorities concerned to look into the matter, the delegation members further said they fear for the safety of their children and old folk who are vulnerable to the attacks by the canines.
We expect that some action will be taken sooner than later to cull the growing menace, they said. (GNS)
