Uri (Baramulla), Dec 22 (GNS): Police in Uri claimed to have recovered packet of heroin-like substance from a person here in this frontier town on Tuesday.
A statement received by GNS reads that “Continuing the strenuous efforts towards the eradication of drug menace from the society, Uri Police recovered contraband from main market Uri at around 1500hrs.”
The recovery, as per the statement, was made during a routine check-up of vehicles at Uri Sumo stand during which one person namely Amir Aftab son of Aftab Ahmad Magral residence of Sultan Daki was seen roaming in a suspicious way.
“The person asked to stop by the naka personnel tried to fled away, however caught by the prompt and quick action of naka party”, the statement maintains.
During his personal search, as per the statement, one packet of Heroin-like substance was recovered from his possession on the spot.
In this regard Case FIR NO 176/20 us 8/ 21 NDPS Act stands registered in police station Uri even as the accused person arrested and further investigations taken up. (GNS)
