Srinagar, April 16 (GNS): Police in a recent action against drug dealings in Handwara have arrested a notorious drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
Officers at a checkpoint established at Main Chowk, Magam intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK09B- 3623 with one person on board. He has been identified as Amjad Ahmad Badana resident of Hafrada Vilgam. During search officers were able to recover 1.05Kgs of Charas from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody. The vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
Case FIR No. 123/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Handwara and investigation has been initiated.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
