Uri (Baramulla) Mar 18(GNS): The Patient care has been severely hit at Primary Health Centre (PHC) Boniyar in this frontier town, with the lone Sonologist alleged of playing a truant for a considerable time now.
A local delegation told Global News Service (GNS) that the patients, especially females, have to traverse miles altogether to get the tests done, despite a machine already available at the centre.
“Authorities following installment of a high-ended Ultra Sonography (USG) machine had appointed a woman medical officer as Sonologist at this (medical) centre”, a local Irfan Ahmad said adding that “however the official seldom visits here and as such the machine is lying useless.”
Another local Sajad Ahmad said that, “Each day a sizeable number of patients from nearby areas visit the centre expecting to get their tests done, however it has been seen more often that these people return back with the medical official concerned remaining unavailable here.”
“The patient flow, especially the women folk, keeps on increasing manifolds for the fact also that the said centre caters to around eighty thousand souls”, he said adding that “however the medical care has came to a standstill, with no one around to be asked about.”
When contacted Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Baramulla, Dr Deeba Khan told GNS that she will look into the matter. “I will see as to why the doctor concerned is not attending her duties regularly”, the official said. (GNS)
