Tarigami, Bukhari Also Visit Residence Of M L Bindroo, Offer Solidarity
Srinagar, Oct 6: National Conference President and Member of Parliament from Srinagar Farooq Abdullah, CPI (M) Leader M Y Tarigami, Apni Party President Altaf Bukhari and others visited the residence of Makhan Lal Bindroo, owner of Bindroo Medicate here, who was killed in Srinagar yesterday.
Denouncing Bindroo’s killing, Farooq demanded that the perpetrators of the “despicable and dastardly act” be brought to justice. He further said that Kashmiri Pandits are part and parcel of the local shared history, and cultural ethos. “Protecting the pluralistic visage of J&K tops the agenda of NC. Such acts of violence are alien to our culture and ethos. There is no place for such violence in today’s world. Those behind this heinous act should be named and shamed and given exemplary sentences. Such acts shouldn’t divide us. The best retort to such violence is to strive for more unity than ever before. Our communal bonhomie and strings of brotherhood are age old and have stood the worst of times,” he said.
Tarigami called late Bindroo an upright man who stood the test of time defying all odds and stayed in Kashmir with his brethren to serve the people. “He never asked for protection with the belief that he was safe among his own people.”
“Yesterday evening a non-local vendor was killed in Lalbazar area of Srinagar and another civilian in Bandipora. This unfortunate killing spree must be put to an end as there is no justification for such heinous crimes,” he said in a statement, adding, “Such brutal incidents are inhuman, unfortunate and the perpetrators have achieved nothing except adding more pain to the victim families.
Each one of us must speak and raise our voice against such barbaric acts.”
Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari also visited Bindroo’s residence and expressed solidarity with the bereaved family.
Bukhari termed his killing as an act of inhumane belligerence which has shaken the social-fabric of Jammu and Kashmir, according to a party statement.
“Mr. Bindroo was a great person who even in hard times continued to serve the people of the valley by providing healthcare services to them. His killing is a huge tragedy that cannot be described in words,” he added.
Bukhari said that the forces inimical to peace are hell-bent to create a wedge between the communities who have a history of pluralistic ethos and have been living harmoniously since ages across Jammu and Kashmir.
“Such nefarious designs to disturb the communal harmony of J&K will never be allowed to succeed. People aspire for a lasting peace and development as Kashmir has no space for further bloodshed and violence,” he said. Bukhari also prayed for the eternal peace to the departed soul and courage to the bereaved family to bear this irretrievable loss. (GNS)
