Srinagar, May 2 (GNS): The owners of the Madina LPG agency Lolab in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Saturday clarified its position over the overcharging incident, saying one of its delivery men committed “unintentional mistake”.
“The overcharged amount was returned to the consumer on spot. The consumer himself spoke to us on phone and said it was due to misconception between him and the deliveryman. But that does not absolve our deliveryman of the mistake he has committed. He was supposed to act transparently as is the norm at our distributorship,” reads a statement issued by the Madina LGP agency. He erred and was therefore penalized and made to apologise, it said.
“Had Madina Gas service not believing in the fair and genuine price policy, our readers here wouldn’t see us keep them updated by every month end. At 5 o’clock in the morning today (May 1) we updated the new LPG prices on this (FB) page and also mentioned our phone numbers for our consumers in case of any incident of overcharging from our deliverymen,” it said, adding, “The question is for our thinking readers: Why would a distributor walk an extra mile just to make a mark? Show us one distributor who uses social media for public awareness regarding fair LPG prices?”
It said the consumers can vouch for the fact that since the agency was commissioned how have “we have tried our best to reach every door with our service. A stray incident can’t be the scale of measurement to weigh how fair or unfair we have been.”
“We would like to request our readers to read all our (FB) posts since we created this (FB) page and leave every to their judgement. We would also like to request our consumers who we have been serving tirelessly till late hours to speak the truth and tell us how fairly we have acted since we started operating in Kupwara.” (GNS)
