Srinagar, May 06 (GNS): Forest Department Tuesday suspended two staffers over dereliction of duties amid the wanton loot of green gold in Hapatnar block of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
In an order, a copy of which lies with GNS, the Range Officer Mattan said that they received a notice over the illicit felling of trees in Compartment 14 falling under Hapatnar block of the district.
The notice, as per the order, was followed up by deputation of a departmental team, supervised by DO Mattan to ascertain the veracity (of the claims).
“One Kail green tree Dia fifty to sixty has been illegally cut by some unknown culprits, with 14/L converted to logs there,” the order, as per the findings of the team, reads. “The in-question stocks existing on the spot were seized by the team and kept at a safer place on proper Supardhnama.”
“As directed by the DFO Lidder, division Bijbehara on pending of enquiry, two staffers; Mushtaq Ahmad Shah (watcher), Mohammed Yaqoob Khan (Maali/Gardener) were put to suspension,” the order reads.
Meanwhile, BO Hapatnar, as per the order, has been asked to explain his position within 24 hours and subsequently directed to lodge an FIR against the culprits in local police station on intimation to the office. (GNS)
