Srinagar, April 16 (GNS): Acting tough against the violators, the Lakes and Waterways Development Authority carried out a demolition drive in several parts of Srinagar on Thursday.
Reports reaching GNS said that a team of LAWDA officials demolished three illegal structures during a drive in Habak and Harwan areas of Srinagar today. The demolition drive was carried out under the supervision of Enforcement Officer.
A statement issued by LAWDA to GNS said that the despite heavy resentment from the public, illegal constructions were demolished with the help of territorial police. LAWDA said that the miscreants were indulging in illegal constructions by taking undue advantage of lockdown.
“Moreover, all the public residing within the LDA jurisdiction are once again informed that not to go for any sort of illegal constructions /encroachments,” the LAWDA statement said, while warning that the demolition of illegal constructions will continue.
It also warned tipper and load carrier owners are directed not to carry any type of illegal construction material in the prohibited area of Dal/ Nigeen Lake without proper permission from the concerned agencies. (GNS)
