Srinagar, July 09 (GNS): Inspector General of Police Traffic, Sulaiman Choudhery, along with SSP Traffic Ajaz Ahmad Bhat and DySP G.M. Bhat, conducted an extensive tour of the downtown area to review traffic arrangements.
An official told GNS that during the visit, IGP Traffic stressed the need for streamlining traffic in congested areas through a participative and people-friendly approach.
The recent interventions made to ensure smooth traffic mobility were appreciated. Efforts to further decongest downtown areas were also discussed in detail.
IGP Suleman directed officers to ensure visible presence on roads and to provide all possible assistance to the public in market areas and around places of religious importance. He also instructed them to remove all encroachments affecting traffic flow.
Emphasizing coordination, the IGP asked officers to take all stakeholders on board to bring about lasting improvements in the traffic scenario across downtown.
He also inspected traffic flow at spots where one-way movement has been introduced.
Members of the public who interacted with the officers appreciated the work being done by the traffic police in the recent past.(GNS)
