Submarine Rescue Unit of Indian Navy Being Flown In: Army

Jammu, Aug 14 (GNS): Searches continued for the twelfth day on Saturday to trace pilot and co-pilot of a helicopter of Indian Army’s aviation corps which crashed near Ranjit Sagar Dam in the Basohli area of Kathua on August 3, officials said.
Wreckage of the helicopter including its cabin was digitally located on Wednesday last but there are no signs of the remains of the two pilots, they said.
“The search operations for Indian Army Pilots and helicopter which had crashed into the Ranjit Sagar Dam has intensified with Submarine Rescue Unit of Indian Navy being flown in to explore digitally located wreckage at depth of approximately 80 – 100 meters,” Defence ministry’s Jammu-based spokesman Lt Col Devender Anand said in a statement. “Indian Air Force has lifted the heavy equipment from Vishakhapatnam to Pathankot for speeding up the underwater search,” he said, adding, “Indian Army and all other agencies to include Indian Navy, Indian Air Force, NDRF, Ranjit Sagar Dam Authority, District Authorities including the locals are sparing no efforts for bringing the operations to a final conclusion”.
