Srinagar, May 25: (GNS) Janata Dal (United), notwithstanding the resignation of GM Shaheen followed by dissolution of its Jammu & Kashmir unit, has Tuesday asked the senior politician to continue as president in the Union Territory.
General Secretary Afaque Ahmad Khan has communicated through a letter to G.M. Shah (Shaheen), that he is pleased to inform Shaheen that R.C.P. Singh M.P (Rajya Sabha) President Janata Dal (United) has appointed him (Shaheen) as the president of Jammu and Kashmir (UT) Unit of the party.
Shaheen, as per the communiqué, has been mandated to constitute the state executive committee and office bearers with representation of all sections of the society viz SC/ST/OBC’s, minorities and women as specified in the party constitution.
“We hope that under your able and dynamic leadership the party will grow from strength to strength in the (UT)”, it concluded.
It is pertinent to mention here that Janata Dal (United) had dissolved its Jammu and Kashmir Unit shortly after the senior politician and its party president GM Shaheen announced dissociation from the party on April 15. (GNS)
