‘Diya- A Dream’ NGO Holds Medical Camp

Srinagar, Oct 18: (GNS)An Anantnag based trust established in 1986 under the banner of Iqbal Public High School (Veesu) on Sunday conducted an annual-cum-parents meet at the school premises.

The meet, as per a school management member, was held to seek views and opinions from the invited personalities including parents and former students into the measures as to mitigate the loss of students amid ongoing pandemic crisis.

Highlighting the need to raise up to the ocassion all participants, as per the member, pledged their unequivocal support towards the institute in its efforts to cater the losses incurred by the students.

“Senior citizens and parents of the students enrolled in the trust, working on no-profit; no-loss model, also assured to extend due assistance towards the institute in this hour of need”, the member said maintaining that “the institute has been facing huge financial constraints owing to its constant closure for over a year now.”

The event was meanwhile attended by an NGO ‘Diya- A Dream’ under its coordinator Firdous Ahmad Mir, which as per the member, conducted a medical camp on the ocassion.

On the eve a painting competition was held which was followed by felicitation to the participants, the member said.

One of the oldest institute in the district, Iqbal Public School Veesu, as per the member, has been rendering services for over three decades now. “At least forty former students are working as doctors in different hospitals across Valley”, he maintained.

“The institute is presently dispensing free of cost education to at least forty students belonging from downtrodden families”, the member said adding “Even in such desperate times the institute somehow managed to help few of the destitute families hit by the ongoing pandemic crisis.”(GNS)
