Kupwara, Nov 03 (GNS): Massive fire has broke out at multiple locations in Lolab forest area of this north Kashmir’s frontier district on Tuesday.
Reports reaching GNS said that, the locals from Warnow Affan hamlet were alerted this afternoon, after they saw smoke billowing from the nearby forests. On visiting the location, locals, as per reports, witnessed a major part of the forest area including vegetation razed to ashes.
The fire is gradually spreading to other parts of the forest area, when this report is being filed.
In a separate incident, blaze has broken out in Compartment numbers 36 and 37 falling in upper reaches of Trumakhan forest area in the frontier district, reports said.
Meanwhile, local residents of the area told GNS, that there have been frequent fire incidents happening in the forests for quite a while now, which according to them, has damaged the green gold to a great extent. (GNS)
