Poonch, May 26 (GNS) : At least half a dozen cattle were killed, many houses damaged as Indo-Pak armies exchanged heavy gunfire along line of control (LOC) in Poonch district on early Tuesday.
Official sources told GNS, “Many residential houses were damaged and around half a dozen cattle were killed after Pakistan army heavily shelled forward posts and civilian areas along line of control (LOC) in Balakote sector on early Tuesday.”
An army official confirmed to GNS said that, “Pakistan initiated unprovoked violation by targeting Balakote area in Mendhar sector in Poonch district, drawing befitting response from the Indian army.”
SDM Poonch, Sahil Jandyal while talking to GNS told that “Around half a dozen domestic animals in forward Sohala village were killed in the Balakot sector. A team, including officials from the revenue, veterinary, health departments headed by the tehsildar, was rushed to the forward areas to assess the losses”, adding, “Many residential house were also damaged during the shelling.” (GNS)
