Headed By AG, Committee Asked To Submit Report With Fortnight
Srinagar, May 20 (GNS): Government on Wednesday constituted a 3-member Committee for expediting the disposal of litigations pending before the High Court and Tribunals in Jammu and Kashmir.
Headed by Advocate General, the committee has been tasked to evolve a mechanism to expedite the disposal of litigations pending before both wings of High Court and other Tribunals and Benches in the J&K.
The other members of the panel, formed after directions from the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat on May 16, include Secretaries of General Administration Department and Law, Justice & Parliamentary Affairs Department, as per an order, a copy of which lies with per global news service.
“The Committee after comprehensive review of all the pending litigations in coordination with all the
Departments/PSUs etc shall work out a roadmap to clear the pendency within a stipulated time frame,” the order reads.
The panel, it said, shall also suggest a mechanism to evaluate the performance of the Law Officers viz-a-viz disposal of the cases by them.
“The Committee shall submit its report within 15 days from its Constitution and shall be serviced by the Department of Law, Justice & Parliamentary Affairs,” the order added. (GNS)
