Bandipora, June 17 (GNS): Barely hours into a report over a non-functional irrigational scheme at Churthangoo Bandipora for the want of power supply, the KPDCL has restored the electricity much to the elation of farmers.
Farmers from various areas, including Ajas and Chinpazpora, had earlier in the day held a protest demonstration against the Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) department over the alleged sudden snapping of electricity supply to the lifting irrigation scheme Churthangoo.
Taking cognizance of the growing public resentment, the KPDCL sprang into action, leading to the restoration of electricity to the scheme.
Following the publication of the news by Global News Service, the Assistant Executive Engineer of Electric Sub Division Bandipora, in a letter addressed to the Executive Engineer of Mechanical Irrigation Division (MID), highlighted several shortcomings and incompletions in the recently shifted 11 KV tapeline to LIS Churthangoo. The letter stated that the tapeline had been dismantled without any prior information to the Electric Sub Division Bandipora and had not been constructed according to the required standards. Broken insulators, undersized cross arms, absence of F-Tops, and other deficiencies were cited in the letter.
However, considering the peak and last days of the paddy planting season, the line was temporarily charged on the directions of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora. The Assistant Executive Engineer requested the MID to rectify the incompletion as soon as possible and obtain the necessary fitness certificate from the inspection division in Srinagar. It was emphasized that any mishap or untoward incident due to the non-rectification of the shortcomings would not be the responsibility of the Electric Sub Division Bandipora. (GNS)
