Srinagar, Jun 12 (GNS): A forest department team seized a vehicle carrying illicit timber in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on intervening night, officials said on Friday.
Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Shopian while divulging the details to GNS said that a team of the department intercepted a load carrier at Zarkan village in Therian block of Romshi range by FCR Shopian on intervening Friday night.”Upon inspection the vehicle was found laden with 12 logs of fir and 63 Cfts which prompted the team for seizure of the vehicle alongwith timber”, the official said.
“The person is a habitual timber smuggler involved in numerous forest offences”, the official said adding “an FIR is being lodged against the said person and will be booked under PSA soon.”
Meanwhile, the official has warned that “any one found involved in such acts would be brought to the book and dealt with sternly.” (GNS)
