Srinagar, Feb 15: (GNS) An elderly man was killed after hit by a vehicle in Qazigund area in south-Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Monday.
Reports reaching GNS said that a Tavera vehicle bearing registration number JK06- 4406 hit a person in Choimullah area of Qazigund along highway resulting in serious injuries to the latter.
The injured person was immediately evacuated to District Hospital Qazigund wherefrom he was referred to SKIMS Soura for specialized treatment. However soon after being admitted, the elderly person succumbed to his injuries at the tertiary hospital.The deceased has been identified as Mohammad Yousuf Koka son of Abdul Samad a resident of Dalwach .
A police official told GNS that the driver of the vehicle identified as Sajad Ahmad Malik son of Ghulam Nabi, a resident of Nagam Banihal has been arrested.
“We have taken up an FIR number 29/2020 under sections 279, 304 IPC in Police Station Qazigund and further investigations set in motion”, the official added. (GNS)
