Jahangir Lolabi

Srinagar, Aug 9 (GNS): A kerosene dealer was on Sunday held for allegedly selling the commodity by resorting to illegal profiteering here in Sogam Lolab area of the district.

Reports reaching to GNS said that on receiving specific inputs, a team of Food and Supplies circle Sogam headed by Tehsil Sale Officer Sogam (TSO) Ehsan ul Haq Khan alongside Senior Assistant Bashir Ahmad Dar raided and caught red handed a Kerosene oil dealer in the area.

The dealer has been identified as Mohammad Musa Khan son of Dilawar Khan, a resident of Tekipora Lolab.

The dealer, as per the reports, was about to sell-off around one hundred litres of oil even as cans, each with 40 litres capacity were seized from the spot, when the raid was carried out.

Mohammad Musa Khan is kerosene oil distributer of Walkul Tekipora and Khan Check areas from last ten years.

However locals have alleged the dealer of routine black marketing even as the issue brought to the notice of authorities on several occasions.

The locals have meanwhile also alleged that many other dealers across the length and breadth of the area are resorting to such practices for a long now and putting the general public in jeopardy.

The locals maintained that despite several complaints made against the distributors, no action has been initiated yet.

“If action by the concerned department had been taken against these persons on time, no one would have dared to take the public on a ride”, the locals said.

The locals have urged concerned TSO to take “strict action under relevant provisions of law” against anyone involved in such a “shoddy practice” in the area.(GNS)
