DAK (Anantnag) demands slew of measures for GMC Hospital Anantnag

Srinagar, May 7: (GNS) District body of Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) Anantnag on Friday held a virtual meet with Health Employees Association of GMC Hospital Anantnag during which various measures aimed to strengthen the Covid Mitigation efforts being carried out at the Hospital – recently designated as Tertiary Care Hospital for parts of South Kashmir – were discussed.

The meeting, as per Srinagar-based news agency Global News Service (GNS) was presided over by Dr Owais H Dar, General Secretary DAK and co-moderated by Dr Adil Wani District President DAK-Anantnag and Dr Fayaz Ahmed Bhat, President HEA-GMC Hospital Anantnag and its General Secretary Mushtaq Ahmed.

All the members unanimously demanded designation of GMC Hospital Anantnag (DH Anantnag) into full-fledged Covid Hospital due to availability of High Flow oxygen plants in the midst of rush of Covid Positive symptomatic patients. The members also suggested and requested the District Administration to take over two nursing homes for Non-Covid patients and management of other emergencies.

There is urgent need to increase High flow oxygen beds and setup atleast 20 bedded ICU facility at GMC Hospital Anantnag exclusively for Covid services, the participants to the meet underlined. The Association also demanded to augment manpower in the said Hospital especially in Radiology, Medicine and Anesthesiology departments for better and effective delivery of Covid services.

There is also urgent need to allocate more bulk type Oxygen Cylinders along with Refilling facility for additional oxygen beds so as to be ready for any upcoming challenge, the participants to the meet observed.

The Association appreciated the Administration for installing 1000 LPM and 350LPM oxygen plants in record time apart from another 1000LPM Oxygen Plant being commissioned in less time.

The Association have in the meantime demanded hotel accommodation for all the staff working in covid mitigation efforts as family members many staffers have been detected positive for the infection.

Covid Incentives must be extended to all employees of the health and medical education department without any bar as all are working directly or indirectly in covid mitigation efforts the Association demanded.

The Association has also demanded setting up of a Digital Cardiac Cath Lab at the hospital. (GNS)
