TANGDHAR-KARNAH, MAY 29: District Development Commissioner, Kupwara (DDC), Anshul Garg, today, visited Karnah subdivision and reviewed the development scenario there.
The DDC inaugurated a public library named as Karnah Civil Services Library at Mini Secretariat, Karnah, completed at a cost of Rs. Rs.13.63 lakh. The library was an initiative of SDM Karnah where all latest books, study material and computers have been kept available for civil services aspirants.
The DDC also laid the foundation of Solid and liquid Resource Waste Management (SLRM) Unit at Tangdhar, coming up at a cost of Rs.46.38 lakh.
The DDC also laid the foundation of Red Rice Processing Unit (RRPU) at Dringlla in Teetwal block, coming up at a cost of Rs.33.50 lakh in the sub division. The project will be completed within two working seasons. It is worthwhile to mention here that this is a step forward to boost agricultural activities in the area as red rice is cultivated only in Karnah subdivision of Kashmir division.
Earlier, the DDC presided over an officers meeting and reviewed the pace of development projects coming up in the subdivision. The meeting was attended by the SDM Karnah, district officers, local Administration, BDC Chairpersons, ex legislature and sarpanchs of Tangdhar.
The SDM Karnah gave a detailed presentation of ongoing developmental activities of the sub division in the meeting. It was given out that 120 community bunkers are under execution at present in the subdivision.
The DDC directed concerned engineers to speed up the work on the bunkers and ensure that these are constructed early.
The DDC held separate interactive meetings with BDC Chairpersons at Teetwal and Tangdhar and listened to their demands regarding development issues.The public representative demanded relaxation in lockdown and permission for Sumo vehicles to ply so that people do not suffer any more. Clearance of pending payments under NREGA was also discussed.
The issue regarding seasonal Behek – Pass was also discussed and SDM was asked to issue the necessary movement passes to the concerned persons after conducting proper COVID-19 screening by Health Department.
The DDC congratulated the people of Karnah subdivision, local Administration and doctors / health works for providing their full cooperation in making Karnah subdivision COVID-19 free zone.
