Uri, August 27:(GNS) Scores of daily wagers working in different departments here in north Kashmir’s Baramulla town on Thursday held a protest outside the ‘mini secretariat’ in Uri demanding the job policy and release of pending wages.
The labourers belong to the departments like PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, Agriculture, Animal and Sheep Husbandry.
The protesters said that they have been working in these departments for the last 20 years but have been completely neglected by the government. “It seems that we don’t exist anywhere,” said a protester.
He said, “No job policy has been framed for us till date while our salaries have been held up for the last nine years”.
They demanded the authorities to intervene into the matter and get it resolved at the earliest.
Later the protesters dispersed-off peacefully (GNS)
