‘Police Has Got Some Clues, Working On Them’

Kupwara, Dec 11 (GNS): Director General of Police J&K Dilbag Singh on Saturday said police has got “some clues” with regard to Bandipora attack in which two policemen were killed at Gulshan Chowk of the north Kashmir district.

“Police is working to identify the involved militants,” he said, adding, “There have been recent incursions by Pakistan in some places in which some Pakistani militants have infiltrated to this side.”

He said that the militants are on “our radar and you have seen that some of them have been killed in the operations and I hope that Pakistani militants who have recently infiltrated will be neutralized soon as the operations are on against them.”

As per GNS, he said that main motive of the militants “is to kill someone and harm the lives of people and their property.”

Earlier Director General of Police J&K Dilbag Singh visited the families of two policemen—Mohammad Sultan and Constable Fayaz Ahmad— who were killed in a militant attack at Gulshan Chowk in Bandipora Town of North Kashmir.

DGP was accompanied by IGP Kashmir Zone Vijay Kumar, DIG North Kashmir Range Udaybhaskar Billa, SSP Bandipora Mohd Zaid, SP Sopore Sudanshu Verma CO 22 RR Sunil Yadav and other jurisdictional officers of PD Sopore. 

The DGP first visited family of Mohd Sultan at Maqam Shaheedmeer Botingue Sopore and expressed solidarity with the bereaved family and prayed for his eternal peace. While interacting with his family he said that the whole Police stands with the bereaved family and shares their grief and sorrow. He assured that every support would be provided to the family.

The DGP said that Police along with other security agencies work for the security and safety of people so the police come to the target. “We have been fighting this war from last 30 years and it is our responsibility to protect the lives and property of people.”

In the afternoon, the DGP along with IGP Kashmir Zone Vijay Kumar, DIG North Kashmir Range Udaybhaskar Billa, SSP Kupwara Shri. Yogal Manhas visited family of Fayaz Ahmad Lone of Lalpora Lolab Kupwara. He expressed solidarity with the bereaved family and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul. (GNS)
