58 pregnant women, 13 cops, 8 doctors, 3 prisoners among 620 cases; J&K tally 4087

Srinagar, June 7 (GNS): Thirteen policemen, eight doctors and three prisoners besides seven more pregnant women, 58 in last around 24 hours, were among 620 persons who tested positive for the novel coronavirus in Jammu and Kashmir, taking the number of covid-19 patients in J&K 4087, officials said on Sunday.
They said that among them 583 were reported from Kashmir and 37 from Jammu.

Giving district-wise breakup of the cases, the officials said Kulgam reported 161 cases, Baramulla 132, Srinagar 87, , Pulwama 60, Anantnag 59, Shopian 24, Bandipora 21, Budgam 18, Ganderbal 14, Jammu 22, Kupwara 7, Rajouri 4, Doda 5, Kathua and Samba two each besides one each in Udhampur and Poonch each.
Among the fresh cases, sources said most of cases were reported at CD’s diagnostic lab including 58 pregnant women, 51 of them confirmed last night, eight doctors, nine policemen besides three prisoners. 58 other cases, four of them policemen, tested positive at SKIMS Soura’s viral diagnostic laboratory.

Dr. G H Yatoo, Nodal Officer Coronavirus Control Measures at SKIMS, told GNS that out of the samples processed at the viral diagnostic lab today, 58 returned positive for the virus.
Professor Farooq Jan, Medical Superintendent SKIMS Soura, told GNS that among them, 33 are from Baramulla, seven from Anantnag, six from Kupwara, five from Kulgam, three each from Srinagar and Budgam and one from Shopian. Regarding cases from Kupwara, he said, four samples were received from DPL Kupwara—aged 25, 30, 38 and 42 years and two others include 27-year-old Kunan Shahmohalla and 32–year-old from Bohipora. SSP Kupwara Shri Shriram Ambarkar told GNS that four policemen had tested negative earlier. “Today their tests came out to be positive,” he said.

As regards samples taken at SKIMS which returned positive include one-year-old boy from Barzulla, 22-year-old from Pigara Shopian and 56-year-old Mir Mazar Anantnag.

Regarding samples received from CHC Uri, sources said and those which came out to be positive include 19-year-old and 31-year-old women from Shalwanpora Pattan and Shahkote Boniyar respectively.
Similarly, among samples from DH Anantnag and which returned positive for the pathogen include 20-year-old woman from Pammer, 21-year-old man from Verinag, 27-year-old Kawarigam, 45-year-old Bon Dialgam, and 26-year-old from Annatnag.
As regards samples received from GMC Baramulla, ten positive cases are from Delina—2 females and 7 males—19 from Khanpora—one of them a female while remaining are males.

Also, samples received from DH Kulgam include 43-year-old man from Schpora, 50-year-old from D K Margh, 32-year-old D H Pora, 25-year-old woman from Larroo and 88-year-old man from Kanchloo Kulgam.

Besides, two samples received from CMC Kunzar tested positive—59-year-old man from Reram and 35-year-old woman from Lalpora Baramulla besides one sample from CMO Budgam tested positive—49-year-old from Wadwan area.

Dr Riyaz Untoo, Principal SKIMS Bemina, told GNS that out of the 493 samples processed at the hospital’s diagnostic laboratory, three came out to be positive for the virus and include a 32-year-old woman from Chatabal Srinagar and two men aged 38 and 34 years from Budgam.

Regarding the policemen who tested positive at CD hospital, sources said, they are from police station Manzgam, 3 prisoners are 50-year-old, 55-year-old and 60-year-old, all residents from Charsoo Awantipora Pulwama. The doctors include from G B Pant hospital, CD hospital, SMHS hospital and GMC Anantnag. Seven pregnant women are residents of warikhah, Challa, Garkole, Zamoor Pattan in Baramulla, Sangerwani and Soura Srinagar.

Pertinently, among the fresh cases 308 were reported by GNS last night—253 were confirmed at CD hospital’s diagnostic lab and include 51 pregnant women who are residents of Gund, Wussan, Matrgund, Serch, Kangan, Narayan Bagh in Ganderbal district; Gulabagh, Chanapora, Baghwanpora Lal Bazar in Srinagar; Kreeri, Khawajabagh, Tapper, Putha Kreeri, Matipora Pattan, Vizer in Baramulla, Wazirthal Telail, Budugaam in Bandipora district.

According to the daily media, out of 4087 positive cases, 2830 are Active Positive, 1216 have recovered and 41 have died.
It further said that out of 218481 test results available, 214394 samples have been tested as negative till June 7, 2020.

Additionally, till date 211513 travellers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for surveillance which included 41848 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 52 in Hospital Quarantine, 2830 in hospital isolation and 55994 under home surveillance. Besides, 110748 persons have completed their surveillance period.

Moreover, 90 more COVID-19 patients—09 from Jammu Division and 81 from Kashmir— have recovered and discharged from various hospitals. (GNS)
