Srinagar, Nov 18 (GNS): Three army soldiers were killed when they were swept away by a snow slide in Machil area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Friday, officials said.
“In an unfortunate incident, 3 jawans (soldiers) of (army’s) 56 RR died in the line of duty in Machhil area when they came under an avalanche,” police said in a statement as per GNS, adding, “All the bodies have been retrieved”.
In a statement to GNS later, the army said two of the soldiers were rescued and evacuated to Military Hospital Kupwara. “Another soldier who was part of the patrol developed hypothermia and was also evacuated to military,” army said, adding, “All three Bravehearts couldn’t survive and made supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.” (GNS)
