Srinagar, May 22 (GNS): Two associates of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen militant outfit were arrested in Awantipora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, police said.
A police spokesman said that the duo, Sayar Ahmad Shah of Tral and Tanseem alias Tanveer Ahmad Sheikh of Awantipora were arrested by the police.
“As per police records they are involved in assisting active (militants) of (Hizb-ul-Mujahideen) operating in the areas of Tral and Awantipora,” the spokesman said, adding, “Incriminating material have been recovered from their possession.”
Two cases vide FIR (46/2020 and 68/2020) under ‘relevant sections” of law have been registered at police stations Tral and Awantipora respectively, he said. “Further investigation into the cases is in progress,” he added. (GNS)
