Srinagar, April 25 (GNS): Three militants were killed in an ongoing encounter at Lower Munda area of Qazigund in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Monday morning.
A police officer told GNS that a joint team of Police, CRPF and army’s 19 RR launched cordon and search operation in Lower Munda.
As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, triggering off an encounter, he said.
So far three militants were killed in the exchange of fire. However identity of the slain militant trio is yet to be ascertained, he said.
The officer said the operation is still going on in the area.
Meanwhile, police said that only one unidentified body has been recovered so far at the encounter site at Guddar area of Kulgam amid searches.
As per the official sources, the remaining militants might have managed to escape while taking advantage of darkness. (GNS)
