Uri, Mar 6: (GNS) Police on Saturday claimed to have recovered Heroin-like substance from a person here in Gowhallan area of Uri.
A statement issued to GNS reads that, “Continuing with our efforts to blot out the menace of drugs from the society, Uri Police recovered contraband from Gowhallan.”
“A naka was established by in-charge camp along with Police party of Uri at Sangana Gowhallan and during the checking and searching one suspicious person coming from Gowhallan towards Sangana tried to flee the spot”, the statement reads adding that “The suspicious movement was however noticed by the police party, who chased and apprehended the person.”
When frisked upon, a packet of Heroin-like substance was recovered from his possession, the statement said.
‘On investigations, the person revealed his identity as Mohammad Altaf a resident Gowhallan.’
A case under FIR Number 20/2021 under section 8/ 21 NDPS Act stands registered in Police station Uri and further investigations taken up in this regard. (GNS)
