Poonch, Feb 17 (GNS): Police on Wednesday said that a militant, Sher Ali of Dhargloon Mendhar in Poonch district, has been arrested at Jammu airport.
“He has been arrested in connection with case FIR No. 292/2020 P/S Mendhar and is also involved in many other cases,” a police officer told GNS.
“Sher Ali was also involved in drug smuggling along with smuggling of arms and ammunition and 2 Kgs heroine worth approx. Rs 8 crores in the international market,” the officer said, adding, “So-far from this network 5 Pistols, 13 grenades and one live IED has been recovered. Further investigation is in progress.”
SSP Poonch Ramesh Angral confirmed the arrest and called it a big success for the police.
The officials said that arrest was by Mendhar Police Party under the Supervision of SDPO Mendhar Z A Jafri under the close supervisor of DIG Rajouri Poonch Range Vivek Gupta and overall guidance of IGP Jammu Mukesh Singh. (GNS)
