Uri, Mar 14 (GNS): Higher Secondary School Gingal hosted a Media Awareness Programme today, 14th March 2025, to shed light on the power of media, its responsibilities, and the importance of ethical journalism. The event sparked meaningful discussions on media credibility, misinformation, responsible reporting, and the dangers of yellow journalism, ensuring a thought-provoking experience for all participants.
The session was graced by the Worthy Principal, Mr Mohd Amin Khan, along with Mr Ishtiyaq Ahmad (Lecturer) and Mr Mukhtyar Sarhadi (Programme Coordinator), who encouraged students to engage in critical conversations. The highlight of the programme was an inspiring guest lecture by Mr Nadeem Khawaja Uri, a respected journalist from the region, whose insights captivated the audience.
Mr Nadeem Khawaja Uri delved into the influence of media in shaping opinions, the ethical challenges in journalism, and the responsibilities that come with reporting the truth. He cautioned against the rise of fake news, media bias, and sensationalism, urging students to verify facts and develop critical thinking skills when consuming information.
