Uri (Baramulla) Mar 1: At least twenty villages are facing blackout in Boniyar tehsil in north-Kashmir’s Baramulla district after a major lightening struck to damage a 6.3 MVA transformer at Noorkhah Receiving Station on Saturday last.
An official told GNS that the machinery was badly damaged by a major lightening event on Saturday morning, which according to him, forced several villages including Lachipora, Mayan, Bijhama, Noorkhah, Bagna, Niloosa, Salamabad, Kanchan, Dachna to undergo an imminent blackout.
Meanwhile when contacted Assistant Executive Engineer Sub-transmission Division (STD) Javid Ahmad Waga told GNS that the departmental teams are on job to rectify the damage on a fastrack basis.
The official has in the meantime expressed hope that the snapped electricity supply will be restored soon.(GNS)
