J&K Reports 117 New Covid-19, Tally Jumps To 2718Srinagar Crosses 300 Mark, Now Only Behind Anantnag, Kulgam

Srinagar, June 2 (GNS): Nine pregnant women were among 117 positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, taking the total number of patients to 2718 in J&K.  Fifteen of the new cases were reported from Srinagar which takes the capital city’s tally to over 300 mark after Anantnag and Kulgam.  Official sources told GNS that among them 77 were reported from Kashmir and 40 from Jammu division.  Srinagar reported 15 cases, Pulwama 14, Jammu 13, Kulgam 11, Kupwara 10, Ramban and Poonch nine each, Budgam eight, Baramulla and Shopian seven each, Bandipora five, Rajouri 3, Kathua and Udhampur 2 each while one each were reported from Samba and Doda. Among the fresh cases, 36 include travelers while 81 are others. Srinagar’s tally rose to 311 and joined two south Kashmir district in having more than 300 cases— Anantnag (349) and Kulgam (311).  Out of the total cases, 1732 are active positive—503 in Jammu and 1229 in Valley— while 953 have recovered and include seven who were discharged today while 33 others have died.  Among the fresh cases, 44 were confirmed at diagnostic laboratories at CD hospital, 22 at SKIMS Soura, 19 at army’s command hospital, and six at SKIMS hospital Bemina.
Dr. Salim Khan, nodal officer for COVID-19 at the Government Medical College Srinagar, told GNS among the 44 cases were reported at CD hospital laboratory and include 9 pregnant women.    
Dr. G H Yatoo, Nodal Officer Coronavirus Control Measures at SKIMS, told GNS that out of the 860 samples processed at the viral diagnostic lab today, 22 returned positive for the virus.
Professor Farooq Jan, Medical Superintendent SKIMS Soura, told GNS that among them 14 are from Srinagar, three from Shopian, two from Baramulla—22-year-old woman from Sedo Sopore and 21-year-old from Kahitangan— while one each is from Pulwama (22-year-old man from Hatwara), Kupwara (12-year-old from Manigah) and Budgam (75-year-old woman from Beeru).
The Srinagar cases include 47-year-old from Lal Bazar, 46-year-old from Bota Kadal, seven from Safa Kadal— 13-year-old girl, three female, two of them 42-year-old and 52-year-old besides 2-year-old boy, 47-year-old and 52-year-old men, he said.  The other cases from Srinagar include 47-year-old man from Mulfaq Hazratbal, 72-year-old man from Baghwanpora, 29-year-old Alamgari Bazar, 76-year-old from Parraypora and 29-year-old woman from Bemina.The three cases from Shopian include 37-year-old, 22-year-old and 60-year-old women from Ramnagri.  
Dr Riyaz Untoo, Principal SKIMS Bemina told GNS that out of the samples processed at the hospital’s diagnostic laboratory till afternoon today, six came out to be positive. They include three men (aged 39,40 & 25 years)—two from Magam and one from Chadoora. The three other cases, he said, include three females (aged 65,23 and 32 years)—one from Hyderpora and two from Magam.
Among the cases, 19 were confirmed at Army’s Command Hospital Udhampur. Confirming it, Lt Col Inam Danish Khan told GNS nine of them were from Ramban , eight from Poonch and two from Udhampur.  
According to the daily media bulletin, till date 185119 travellers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for surveillance which included 43635 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 43 in Hospital Quarantine, 1732 in hospital isolation and 50220 under home surveillance. Besides, 89456 persons have completed their surveillance period. (GNS)
