Uri, August 9: (GNS) Delay in the issuance of Domicile certificate has irked residents particularly students community in this border town of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Several residents told GNS that they have filled online application forms about one and a half month back but are yet to get their certificates that are to be issued by tehsildar Uri.
Waseem Ahmad, a local said he has applied one and half months ago online for domicile certificate. “But till date authorities haven’t issued the certificate though we were told by the authorities that we will get it within days,” he said.
“Many times we approached the concerned authorities but we couldn’t get any solid response for the delay,” he said.
Another local Mohammad Abdullah said, “I applied online for domicile certificate before a month but still concerned authorities did not issue my certificate”.
He said authorities are making the excuse that the internet problem in downloading the online applications. “When all other offices in the valley are working with BSNL broadband facility then why there is a problem only with tehsil office Uri,” he said.
Locals alleged that tehsil office Uri and Boniyar are also not issuing Persons Speaking Phari (PSP) certificates to eligible candidates. They said when the government clarified the criteria of issuing the PSP by setting an income slab of eight lakh.
It is pertinent to mention that in Jammu division thousands of domiciles and PSP certificates have been issued till date but here it is a delayed process.
Tehsildar Uri Syed Khurshid Ahmad told GNS that low speed on broadband was hampering the process of issuing the domicile certificates. “The mobile and internet services gets affected frequently in Uri and we have also taken up the matter with BSNL authorities,” he said.
He said, “If any one has emergency for certificate we can issue them in offline mode which is the quick way to get it”.
“We will now take out an alternate way so that more certificates can be issued and people don’t suffer,” he said.
Regarding Phari Speaking certificates (PSP), the officer said so far they have not received any application from any candidate for PSP. (GNS)
