Srinagar, Jun 14 (GNS): Indian Journalists Association (IJA) has conferred Bilal Bhat with ‘International Excellence Award’ in the field of investigative journalism. Bhat is the first journalist to win this award in the field of investigative journalism from Kashmir.
Bhat known for his reports has time to time exposed the deep rooted corruption menace in Kashmir. He did a series of sting operations and has been by and large the first journalist to introduce “sting operations” for exclusive investigative reporting in Kashmir.
Bhat has over the time exposed the mafia in education, health and various sectors where the offences of corruption and bribery are deep rooted and are rampantly increasing.
Bhat founded ‘Newsstock’ in year 2020, which is Kashmir’s first investigative news organization. In 2021 the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, presented an excellence award to ‘Newsstock’ for its groundbreaking reporting on corruption in Kashmir.
Bhat besides being conferred with awards on his exhaustive reporting of corruption has also been conferred for reporting on minorities in India. (GNS)
