Srinagar, April 2 (GNS): Government forces on Thursday morning resumed search operation inside the woods along Line of Control (LoC) in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
Reports reaching GNS said that the army’s 8 JAT resumed the search operation early hours of Thursday to trace out the suspected militants in the forest area of “Guguldara Teen Behak” in Jumgund.
Helicopters according to reports were also seen hovering over the forest area to track down the militants.
Besides, sources said, the searches were also resumed along Awaoora, Kumkadi, Zurhuma, Safawali, Batpora, Haihama areas by the joint team of army’s 41 RR, 57 RR, 160 TA and SOG Kupwara.
A police officer said that the Guguldara area received snowfall yesterday due to which the operation was suspended and was resumed early morning. He said that the searches in the area are going on. On Wednesday, a group of militants while trying to infiltrate in this side were challenged by the army, triggering off an initial brief exchange of gunfire and second fierce battle which lasted several minutes, sources said.
