The heart is the spot where emotions and feelings combine together
like happiness and sorrow, love and hatred, fear and hope, serenity and tranquility.

The heart that is linked to Allah is always humble to his creator. This heart is submissive to Almighty Allah in devoutness. It admits his weakness, fragility and sorrows to his Lord. It is a heart that is sincerely affected and moved by moral advices and genuine preaching. It is a heart that longs for prostration, because it implies surrendering to his Lord. A heart that always remembers Allah, supplicates in neediness, humility, richness and prosperity. It is a heart that invokes saying “O Ever living, O self subsisting and supporter of all, by Your mercy, I seek help , rectify for me all of affairs and do not leave me depend on myself, even for a blink of eye.
The heart that is linked to Allah always seeks Him, whenever it is plagued by sorrow, grief, difficulty or failure to do the right thing. It is the heart that expresses to his creator the challenges he faces like tyranny, sins and oppression. He contemplates his lord and calls on Him every and each moment following the supplication of Prophet Moses in the Quran “I have hastened on to you Lord, that you may be satisfied (with me).
It is a heart that hurries to gain forgiveness mercy from his Lord. Allah says about the repentant in Quran: “These are the ones who, when they commit any indecency and wrong against themselves, instantly remember Allah and implore forgiveness for their sins – for who will forgive sins save Allah? – and who do not wilfully persist in the wrong they did.” (Al-Imran,135) I believe in order to have a heart that is connected to Allah, we need to get to know Him first. How do we expect to build a strong relationship with someone we barely know? Allah gave us multiple ways to do this, one of which is through Quran. Another way is spending time on learning and understanding on his names which we learn from Qur’an and sunnah.
The heart has to have a provision and the fuel and the spirit has to be busy. If we don’t keep ourselves busy in righteousness, it will keep us busy with falsehood. To have a heart that is linked to Allah we should hasten to good deeds and race to gain hasten. For example, maintaining the five day prayers on time and performing optional fasting whenever possible, reciting of Holy Qur’an, reciting the morning and evening zikr etc.
Remember that if the heart is pure and sound, your body will be pure and sound, And if it is corrupt, your body will be corrupt. In this regard, let’s remember what our Prophet Muhammad(S A W) said: Beware! there is a piece of flesh, in your body if it becomes good(reformed) the whole body will become good ,but if it gets spoilt the whole body gets spoilt and that is the Heart.
The Prophet Muhammad (P B U H) said,” Allah doesn’t look at your bodies nor your faces, but looks at your heart and actions “.
Oh Allah establish our hearts on loving, obeying and following your religion that you set for us. Aameen
I hope that this piece will inspire many to feed and nourish their hearts and provide them with practical advice on how to do exactly that. The state of your heart will determine how you perceive the world around you. Just like how we take care of our minds and bodies, we have to take care of our hearts. Your heart shall be sanctuary of God and you shall not give it to someone else.
