Uri (Baramulla), Nov 10 (GNS): With no full time Tehsildar deputed for over three months now, the tardy functioning of Tehsil office in Uri is causing huge inconvenience to the people intending to obtain different official documents from the office.
A local delegation told GNS that the revenue office is not functioning properly as there is no full time officer available to look after the day to day matters pertaining to the people. The government transferred the previous Tehsildar from the office in the month of August this year, but no replacement has been made till date, they said adding however Tehsildar Boniyar was given additional charge but much to our agony he seldom attends the office.
“In absence of a full-time Tehsil head, the residents, especially the students are facing a lot of problems”, they said, explaining that the issuance of RBA, PSP, Domicile, Income certificates and other related documents has got badly hampered over the time.
Shabir Ahmad Sheikh, a local from Nambla village told GNS that he has been visited the Tehsil office for six consecutive days for obtaining ‘Income Certificate’ of my child, maintaining that however on each instance I was made to go back on the excuse that the Tehsildar will come tomorrow. “However even after almost a week, the documents still lie with the office”, Shabir said adding there are over a hundred persons whose documents are pending with the office on one excuse or the other.
Another local identifying himself as Mohammad Sadeeq Kattaria also shared the similar grievance saying that he has applied for ‘Income Certificate’ of his children, but no revenue official is available full time at the office to resolve the matters of public.
“The Tehsildar from Boniyar visits once a week which one feels isn’t enough to take up the matters of public”, Kattaria asserted.
When contacted, SDM Uri Harvinder Singh told GNS that he has already written about the issue to higher authorities. “Hopefully the issue will be resolved soon”, SDM said.
Meanwhile when contacted, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Bhupinder Kumar told GNS that he has knowledge about the matter.
On being apprised of the issues faced by the public, sans availability of a full-time Tehsildar, the district administrator said that he will verify the claims of public adding he has directed the Tehsildar Boniyar to allocate equal time between the two Tehsils.
Muzafar Ali Malik, Deputy Secretary Revenue J&K also told GNS that he has already knowledge of the matter. “I will look into the matter and hopefully soon a new tehsildar will be posted to Uri” he said. (GNS)
