Srinagar, May 15 (GNS): Umar Wani, founder of ‘We the Helping Hands Foundation’ NGO, received the coveted Bharat Vibhushan Award on May 12, 2023, for his passionate commitment towards the welfare of people of Jammu and Kashmir.
A local resident of Pandach, Srinagar, Wani founded the said NGO in 2013, and it has been since working in the Kashmir Division with its due dedication and zeal.
Acknowledging his work, the Government of India conferred Wani with prestigious ‘Bharat Vibhushan Award’ – the highest Civilian Award of the National Book of Records, operated by Learningave Infotech.
The award, given to only 20 people from all over the country, is aimed at recognizing achievements in different fields of activities and disciplines. This award includes the Bharat Vibhushan official flag star medal and the official Bharat Vibhushan award memento, an official wooden certificate, official NBR badge among other paraphernalia.
On receiving the award, Umar Wani, as per GNS, thanked the Chief Editor of the National Book of Records and also paid special thanks to his team and the public donors who helped him and his team ‘to reach the position where they are now.’
Wani, as a token of appreciation presented certificates to his team members for their exhaustive volunteer hours for the successful functioning of the foundation. (GNS)
