Night temperature falls across Kashmir, below normal in Gulmarg

Srinagar, Oct 19 (GNS): The weatherman on Tuesday forecast heavy rains and snow at many places of Jammu and Kashmir, mainly on October 23, and said that the wet spell could damage orchards and lead to temporary disruption of major highways on hilly areas.

“A fresh spell of widespread moderate rain/snow is most likely during 23rd October forenoon to 25th. Heavy rain/snow is very likely at many places of j&k mainly on 23rd,” an official of the local MeT office told GNS.

Regarding impact, he said, there could damage to orchards and temporary disruption of major highways on hilly areas due to accumulation of snow and low temp. However the official said that forecast was based today’s conditions and “may change in terms of intensity and timing but a spell of rain will occur.”

Meanwhile night temperature fell across Kashmir Valley with the world famous skiing resort of Gulmarg recording below normal, officials said.

Srinagar, which had a rainfall of 3.6mm in 24 hours till 0830 hours, recorded minimum temperature of 7.7°C against 11.0°C on previous night, the official said.
