240 New Covid-19 Infections Take J&K Tally To 9501

20 Security Men, Baby Among New Cases; 128 Patients Discharged

Srinagar, July 9 (GNS): Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday reported 240 new covid-19 infections, including 20 army, SSB and police personnel. With these cases, the number of covid-19 patients has risen to 9501.

Giving district-wise break of the cases, the officials said that Srinagar reported 58, Baramulla 37, Kulgam 2, Shopian 7, Anantnag 8, Kupwara 32, Pulwama 4, Budgam 18, Bandipora 5, Ganderbal 14, Jammu 12, Kathua 4, Samba 9,  Rajouri 18, Poonch 5, Doda 3 and Kishtwar 4 .

Dr. G H Yatoo, Nodal Officer Coronavirus Control Measures at SKIMS Soura told GNS that out of the samples which were processed at the viral diagnostic laboratory of the hospital today, 60 returned positive for the virus.

Professor Farooq Jan, Medical Superintendent SKIMS Soura told GNS among them 17 are from Budgam, 16 from Srinagar, six from Baramulla, five each from Bandipora from Anantnag, three from Ganderbal, two from Shopian and one each from Kulgam and Kargil

Cases from Srinagar include male (20) from Nishat, male (70) from S R Gunj , male (60) from Fateh Kadal,

Male (35) from Nowhatta, Male (22) from Umerabad , Male (32) from Rainawari , Male (57) from Eidgah, Male (35) from Buchpora , two Males (40, 57) from Soura, female (32) from Peerbagh, two female (45, 58) from Nawakadal, Male (23) from Nowshera, Male (56) from Safa Kadal, Male (39) from Jawahar Nagar. The Budgam cases include female (21) from Narbal, Male (23) from Khanda , Male (21) from Malpora, Male (65) from Ach Sharief, Male (35) from Hopalpora, female (52) from H/C Ompora, Male (24) from Hard Batapora, Male (36) from Qazibagh Bangal , Male (50) from Branjan Nagam, four Males (40, 42, 49, 48) from Bugam , female (28) from Dadina, Male (39) from Kargam , two Males (34, 65) from Chadoora. The cases from Anantnag include female (32) from Kokernag, Male (37) from Shangus , Male (21) from Bijbehara , Male (54) from Anantnag and female (12) from Sirhama while cases

from Kupwara are male (19) from Dudwan, Male (20) from Lolab , Male (36) from Kralpora  and female (62) from Handwara while  shopian ones include Male (21) from Zainapora  and Male (42) from Killora.  

The Baramulla cases include Male (20) from Sopore, Male (50) from Sopore , Male (55) from Kanlibagh, Male (50) from Hardishoor , Male (65) from Noorbagh  and Male (20) from Pattan while Bandipora ones are Male (52) from Ayathmulla , three Males (24, 13, 40) and female (14) from Ashtangoo, three from

Ganderbal include male (54) from 117 Bn CRPF Ganderbal, female (9 Days) from Anderwan  

and female (55) from Kangan while case from Kulgam is male (39) while Kargil one is Male (24)

Dr Riyaz Untoo, Principal SKIMS Bemina told GNS that out of 443 samples processed at the hospital’s lab, 14 tested positive for COVID-19, all from Shopian. 

The cases also include five Essential Service Providers, two Bank Employee, three pregnant  woman, two employees from Sopore Court besides  three (SSB 63 Bn Degree College) Sopore Camp, three Policemen, 11 personnel from BB CANT Srinagar, a trooper of 117 Bn CRPF Ganderbal, two policemen from DPL Handwara and nine days old female baby.  

Moreover, 128 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 54 from Jammu Division and 74 from Kashmir.

Meanwhile, according to the daily Media Bulletin), out of 9501 positive cases, 3652 are Active Positive, 5695 have recovered and 154 have died; 14 in Jammu division and 140 in Kashmir division.

The Bulletin further said that out of 429787 test results available, 420286 samples have been tested as negative till July 9, 2020.

Additionally, till date 306434 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for surveillance which included 38939 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 44 in Hospital Quarantine, 3,652 in hospital isolation and 45713 under home surveillance. Besides, 217932 persons have completed their surveillance period. (GNS)
