Srinagar, May 23 (GNS):  Jammu and Kashmir National Conference National Conference Member of Parliament from Anantnag, Hasnain Masoodi on Saturday expressed   concern over delay in evacuation of 250 students, travelers stranded in Pakistan and urged the GOI to expedite the evacuation of stranded JK students from Pakistan and other Central Asian countries.

Expressing dismay over the inordinate delay in the process of evacuation of bringing  stranded J&K students from  Pakistan, Masoodi  that, “as all the stranded students and other residents of Jammu and Kashmir have been evacuated from Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Maldives and Dubai, there is no reason to delay evacuation and return of the students and travelers stranded in Pakistan, more so when the registration is complete, the number of stranded is far less as compared to other countries and air travel is not involved in their return.”

Urging the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the J&K administration to take immediate steps for evacuation and return of the stranded J&K residents, Masoodi sought direct flights for more than 400 students stuck in Bishkek and Osh cities in Kyrgyzstan.“It is stated that as direct flights have been announced for the stranded students from Bishkek to Hyderabad, Bihar and Jaipur, similar treatment deserves to be given to over 400 students from J&K stranded in those cities and direct flights operated from the 2 cities to Srinagar,” he said.

He has also impressed upon the MEA and J&K administration to facilitate the return of 22 pilgrims stranded in Quom, Iran for last more than 2 months.

He also demanded that the stranded be given benefit of the mechanism employed in case of evacuation and direct return of the pilgrims from Kargil also stranded in Quom, Iran so that they join their families at Srinagar without any further delay. (GNS)
