Srinagar, Apr 29 (GNS): Asserting that anti-militancy operations will continue despite Covid-19 pandemic, Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh on Wednesday said “there will be no compromise in our efforts for establishing a lasting peace in the Union Territory”.

He stressed for more vigil and alertness, and said “the infiltration attempts are being constantly made from across the border”.

“All concerned security forces are maintaining alert at the borders to check the nefarious designs of our neighboring country,” DGP said while reviewing security scenario of all the districts of North Kashmir Range. He was accompanied by IGP Kashmir Zone Vijay Kumar.

The DGP visited Baramulla to also take stock of the preparation/measures amid Covid-19 to contain the spread of the disease, a police spokesperson said in a statement.

He said the DGP chaired the meeting of senior jurisdictional police officers and commanding officers from police and CAPFs of North Kashmir range districts wherein he reviewed the preparations and measures put in place to tackle the spread of coronavirus cases.

During the meeting the DGP stressed for implementing the government orders in letter and spirit to contain the spread of coronavirus particularly in red zone areas.  He directed that all the necessary preventive and precautionary measures have to be strictly enforced on ground to check the disease.

He emphasized upon the officers to continue all help in tracking the contacts of corona positive persons so that the transmission chain could be breached.  He directed the officers that only permissible public movement has to be allowed, particularly in the areas declared as containment zones.

The DGP appreciated the good work is done by all ranks of police and security forces so far in containing the further spread of Covid-19 and stressed for sustained efforts at all levels and involvement of local populace in breaking the chain.

“Our officers and jawans are going out of way and doing an exemplary job in providing a helping hand to the needy people at this critical juncture,” he said and assured that “we will continue to serve our people with full commitment”.

The DGP also commended the role of social and religious leaders for asking people to stay and pray from their homes during the holy month of Ramazan saying that without people’s cooperation desired results cannot be achieved.

“With the teamwork of the forces and society, effective implementation of lockdown is being ensured. The officers must make sure that all police personnel are well equipped and sensitised on ground to not only implement government orders and advisories but also be mindful of their own health care,” he said.

Earlier, the officers gave a detailed briefing to the DGP about the preparation and contribution made amid Covid-19 and the security situation of their respective areas and jurisdictions, the spokesperson said.

The meeting, besides IGP Kashmir, was attended by all District SsP of North Kashmir Range, Commandants of Armed/IRP and CRPF battalions, Principal STC Sheeri, Addl. SP Baramulla and other jurisdictional gazetted officers.

Last evening, the DGP visited south Kashmir’s District Anantnag to take stock of the security scenario and preparation to contain the spreads of Covid-19 disease. (GNS)
