Handwara, Dec 11 (GNS): Hundreds of residents on Friday protested against unavailibility of potable water in Shatgund Bala of Qalambad tehsil in Handwara.
Scores of local women accompanied by male counterparts alleged the PHE department of lackadaisical approach towards their long-pending genuine demand.
“We are without drinking water for almost two months now however the department concerned is unmoved despite time to time representations”, they said.
Despite a water supply pipeline already passing through the area, we are still deprived of the basic facility, the locals said adding that “Other adjacent areas are receiving the supply round the clock however it is our area in between that is being ignored by the department.”
The protesters have in the meantime sought intervention from Deputy Commissioner Kupwara Anshul Gargh even as urging Chief Engineer concerned to resolve the issue at the earliest. (GNS)
