Jammu, Feb 9: The Jammu-Srinagar highway, the only surface link connecting Kashmir with the outside world, was blocked on Tuesday due to a landslide in Ramban district, traffic officials said. While hundreds of vehicles were stranded following the landslide at Marog area, the traffic restored on highway as men and machines were pressed to clear the landslide.
There was only one-way movement of traffic from Srinagar towards Jammu on February 9.
“Tomorrow (February 10), subject to fair weather and better road condition, LMVs shall be allowed from Jammu towards Srinagar including Ramban-Banihal (local traffic) on Jammu-Srinagar highway,” the officials added.
Meanwhile, Mughal road, connecting Shopian and Poonch districts, also remained closed due to the snowfall. Srinagar-Leh highway has been officially closed on the orders by Divisional Commissioner Kashmir on December 30. (GNS)
