Poonch, June 27 (GNS): A Sarpanch from Bufliaz area on Saturday alleged that he was beaten up by a GRS during a meeting convened by BDO at Surankote in Poonch district.
The Sarpanch, Amjid Khan, alleged that while he was informing the meeting about the problems facing people in his area, a GRS (Gram Rozgar Sewak) of RDD department suddenly came and slapped him.
“He then went on to beat me up and all this happened in presence of the BDO and other Sarpanches, Panches and officials present in the meeting,” he said. Ahmad has filed a complaint with the district authorities and police, seeking action against the GRS.
When contacted, ACD Poonch Rajesh Lakhan told GNS that he will look into the matter. “If it has happened, it is very bad. I will look into it,” he said.
Later in the afternoon, the BDO issued an order, relieving the GRS with further directions to him to report to the office of Assistant Commissioner Development Poonch.
“(An application (was) received from the Amjid Khan Sarpanch Buffliaz A of Block Buffliaz regarding misbehavior conducted by one of GRS namely Yasir khan of Buffliaz A outside premises of undersigned.
Based on this complaint concern GRS is relieved from office of undersigned with immediate effect,” reads an order issued by the BDO.
“Moreover he is directed to report to the office of Assistant Commissioner Development Poonch office for further duties till pending enquiry.” (GNS)
